""When i was young i used to watch movies under the AVM Banner
in Bombay.Since this is my first film under this banner i feel
happy and also working with Vikraman for the first time makes
me obviously satisfied". "
--------------------------------------------------------------
Genre:
Romance
Story Line: The
movie starts off with the childhood of Madhavan and Sree Devi
and story is built up slowly by establishing the characters of
Madhavan and Sree Devi along with their families. Ashok (Madhavan)
and Julie (Sree Devi) are childhood friends.Ashok is like a family
member of Julie's family. They are very close to each other and
they believe that friendship is above love.Public has a different
view of their friendship. They do not have any love feelings towards
each other. Julie's father (Manivannan) dies and Ashok brings
Julie to his house and she stays along with his family. Nandini
(Jothika) is from a rich family and Ashok falls in love with her
and they get married. Julie’s closeness to Madhavan at first
annoys Nandhini but later she accepts it. Julie falls for her
school correspondent’s son Michael (Vineeth), a cricketer
who is vying for a place in the Indian cricket team and Ashok
happens to be his main rival. Ashok gets selected and Michael’s
father strikes a deal with Ashok that Michael –Julie marriage
will take place if Ashok steps down and let Michael replace him.
Ashok agrees to all the conditions of Michael’s father for
friendship sake. When Michael comes to know of this at the end,
he restores the severed ties between them and the film ends at
a happy note.
Madhavan has done a very
likable and most natural character in this film and ends up in
getting sympathies of the audience. Although Jothika enters the
screen just before the interval, she has given a creditable performance.
She has slimmed down so much and her costumes in this film are
very attractive. Sree Devi is just adequate.
Director Vikraman w ith a
simple and yet unconvincing basic storyline had woven the scenes
in such a way that he convinces that the relationship between
Sree Devi and Madhavan is just friendship and no love. With neat
screenplay and simple dialogues Vikraman’s direction is
good. Although S.A.Rajkumar’s music is a rework of his old
tunes, the picturisation of songs is appealing. Cricketer Srikanth
is appearing in a scene as a coach to Madhavan. All in all a clean
family entertainer.
